Single family homes sold have been consistent.  Prices have steadily climbed.  January single family home sales started the year a little bit slow, but the number in escrow is picking up and prices are not showing signs of dropping.

The below figures are only the totals and averages.

Randy, I am curious, whats the average worker get paid in Hawaii now? I was making 5.00 a hour when I left and that was 2.00 over Minimum Wage I think...  I can't fathom how the average blue collar worker is living there.

I do not know the average income.  I know wages have gone up a lot since then, but still low compared to the cost of living.  In the service industries like hotel works it is common the see husband and wife both with a full time and a part time job.

Wow kind of sounds like here. Although our home prices are A LOT lower then yours our wages don't come close to supporting a family with today's home prices and mortgage rates. I always want to know how "they" do it... make the mortgage, the car payment, the insurance, etc.. It just boggles my mind. Then I see your average prices and after the sticker shock wears off, I wonder how do they do it over there?

Lysa - For years in Hawaii we have had multiple generations living in homes.  Both parents working and the grandparents on fixed income watching the grandchildren.  In our strong economy we have seen less of that, but there are still more families depending on 4 or more incomes to survive than anyone would want to admit.
