The 2013 Military Basic Housing Allowance (BAH) for Honolulu County (Island of Oahu) will be showing a substantial increase over the 2012 BAH.

Interesting that the military is on top of the housing market. Hope it's enough for Honolulu...

Olga - I am glad they do.  Those families sacrifice so much for us.

This is great news for the families who have sacrificed so much.  A great holiday gift.

Joan - It is nice news for them to receive as we go into the holidays.

Tha'ts great news for active duty military families, I know the Hawaiian housing market is pretty pricey. Happy Holidays

Susanna - Not only are rents and home prices climbing, but so are utilities.  I am glad the government recognized that and are taking care of our military families.

Randy, this is good news for military families. With housing cost increasing, this will help them out.

The 2013 numbers should have been out December 15.  I am not finding that nice chart that you have for my area.  You did a good job.

Dwight- I created the chart from the from the numbers provided on the BAH calculator.

That is really great news for our military here on Oahu. The problem is that we have a low inventory of homes for rent (our office) and have a 100% occupancy.  We also have a low inventory of homes for sale. Bottom line is that the military will be fortunate to have housing allowance should they rent or buy.  Thanks Randy!

Sally - Low inventory makes it more challenging.  It is also contributing to the higher prices and the raise in BAH.
