Hawaii Randy's Real Estate Opinions: A Special Thank You to a Top Agent and Great Friend

A Special Thank You to a Top Agent and Great Friend

Mahalo

I realized I tend to write too much about the negatives I see in our business.  I thought I would change the tone and write about something positive that happened to me this month.

The reality is we have an industry made up of some really great people and a few who should be in another line of work.  I love this business and couldn't imagine doing anything else until I retire.

I hadn't shared with the group about my last month.  I have been in and out of the hospital this month.  The first week of the month I had surgery and last week I wound up back in the hospital with severe internal bleeding.  As such I have had a lot of free time to rest and play on my laptop and on AR.  Unfortunately I have been limited to what I could do with my clients.

The day I of me getting out of the hospital for the first time a client called.  I was still in the hospital waiting for the wheel chair to take me to the car.  I have been communicating to them on the east coast for about a year and they now arrived in Hawaii and wanted to look at a couple of the properties I had e-mailed them.  I let them know my situation and said I would call another top agent in my office who they would really like to help us out.

So I called trusted friend and partner in crime Karen.  She jumped to the rescue and followed up with them.  She worked with them last week while I was back in the hospital for the second time and on Christmas Eve got them in contract.  The amazing part is she continued to refuse any part of the commission.  Christmas Day Karen and her husband got on a plane to go spend the rest of the holidays on the mainland with family.  I am taking over today to get the escrow opened and see it the end.

We are doing a 50/50 split over her objections.  What a class act!

PS. Mahalo is Thank You in Hawaiian

I hope you're on the road to 100% again!  So glad you had a positive story to share-it's the kind of thing that needs to be highlighted so we don't all get down in the mouth over the bad eggs.

Sorry to hear you've been having trouble.  It sure helps to know there is someone you can count on.  I bet you have done some great things for her as well.

Doug - Karen is great, she is extremely honorable.  Last year we came in #1 & #2 in our office.  We did a couple of co-listings and shared a couple of buyers to allow us to take vacations.

Leigh - I went to the office for a couple of hours today and worked on a new escrow.  Hopefully by next week I will be able to put in full days again.  It hit me that I have been writing too many blogs about the negative experiences, when they are not the norm.

Shari - I took a lot of stress off me knowing I could call for help.  We have a couple of other agents in my office that are extremely trustworthy and skilled.

Randy-Good wishes for a speedy recovery (again).  Karen is a very nice lady.  You should have asked your other friend in the office to cover for you!  Hint hint.....she may have just stole your client anyway when you were not looking!

David and Tonya - You guys and one other are the only agents I feel are not only trustworthy enough, but competent enough to make me look good with my clients.  Are you folks back from vacation?

Aloha to all and have a Hauoli Makahiki Hou  (Happy New Year in Hawaiian)

Sorry to hear of your health problems.  I hope you can get well soon.  Having someone like Karen sure does make it a little easier.  I think everyone should have a "go to" agent in time of need.

Brett - I am so fortunate in that respect.  I am getting better and plan to start working 1/2 days for the next two weeks until I have my strength back.  Thank you for the thoughts.

Randy, it sounds like the surgery was more serious than I thought when you mentioned you were going in. I hope you have a speedy recovery, no more complications. Let me know when we can have lunch again; I'm done being a vegetarian, ready to eat pizza and hamburgers!

I look forward to it.  I am doing much better.  I went to the movies last night and will be in the office for a few hours today.

I am very limited on what I can eat for the next couple of months, but will enjoy the smell of pizza.
