Hawaii Randy's Real Estate Opinions

Home Inspector Home Inspector Who Art thou?

In Hawaii we have no specific requirements for someone to call themselves a home inspector.

I have seen several people such as sports announcers decide to start a new business.  You guessed it.  They are now a home inspector.

What makes them feel they are qualified to do that line of work?

They took a class in Las Vegas or some such place (In this case what Happens in Vegas didn't stay in Vegas).  They earned a designation from that school or organization.  In some cases they bought a software package that generates standardized reports and in some cases they even offer fancy binders with pictures.

Once you make some business cards on the computer and print them on pre-perforated stock from Walmart You Are Now a Home Inspector!

The scariest group are those who didn't even take a training class and just bought the business cards.

Some have insurance or so they say.  Many do not.   Realtor

As real estate brokers and salespeople we need to be extremely careful before we recommend as inspector to our clients.
